 SP Coolant Transfer pump - (SP GREEN) is designed to be portable and spill-free pump for safe, easy and cost-effective handling of  liquids. Fits as standard a 25 Litre Drum. Adaptors are available to fit a smaller or larger aperture, ie. 5 Litre or 205 Litre drum. FKM seals for light acids and chemicals. Attention: the internal parts of the hand pump are also made of stainless steel.

How S.P. pump works:

Operation could not be simpler. The coolant pump is positioned in the neck of the container, and the handwheel is tightened to form an airtight and evaporation proof seal. Easy pumping pressurises the container, forcing coolant up through the feeder pipe. The dual action tap lever can now be turned for either measured or continuous coolant flow of up to 20 litres per minute. The standard S.P. pump is supplied with inlet feeder pipes and three interchangeable drum seals to fit container neck openings between 49.5mm and 60.0mm diameter. S.P. coolant pumps are also available with a smaller seal to fit 42.5mm to 44.0mm neck openings. An optional extension tap with 2 metres of flexible pipe, dual-action tap lever, grip handle and nozzle guard, enables easy and safe drum to drum transfer and siphoning.

Coolant Pump Colour Coding:

• Red: for non-food, water based fluids (coolant cutting oils - water based) (other options for different liquids please ask call 01684 290077)  Blue for oils and petrochemical based products. Green for light Acids and chemicals.

Coolant Skin risks

  • Harm via skin or eye contact

Access and premises

  • Provide clean facilities for washing and taking refreshment, away from all machining activities.

Coolant Equipment

  • Limit skin contact; use mixing valves instead of manual mixing.
  • Provide chemical-resistant gloves.
  • Reduce splash risks; provide properly designed splash-guards. Don’t use rags or plastic sheeting.

Coolant Pump Procedures

  • Warn workers to avoid getting metalworking Coolant on their skin, particularly hands.
  • Can you adjust the Coolant flow rate to avoid overheating while minimising mist and splashes?
  • Stop Coolant delivery when not machining.
  • Remove tramp oil (hydraulic, lubricating or gearbox oil, which has leaked into metalworking coolant) regularly by mechanical skimmers, coalescers, or by manual skimming.

Neat oil

  • Only use highly refined neat oils.

Water-mix Coolant

  • Mix fresh water-mix coolants to the supplier’s recommended concentration. Make sure you use the right amount of concentrate.
  • In use, water-mix coolants evaporate and become more concentrated.

Top-up only with Coolant below working strength.

  • You may need to use biocides and corrosion inhibitors in sumps. Add the right amount.

Caution: Don’t add concentrate or water direct to the sump.

Synthetic Coolant

  • Some synthetic coolants may be topped up with water. Follow your supplier's guidelines.
